Introduction

Hi All,

I have planned to ferment bread! I'm excited to post my journey as I learn how to ferment food, and more specifically ferment some miracle bread!

As I did a little researched about the history of yeast, I learned yeast can be considered the oldest industrial microorganism. And it is very likely that people were using yeast before the development of written language over 5,000 years ago!

I chose to make this bread, because I am a bread LOVER. I love when bread is doughy, so fermenting my own bread will give me the opportunity to make bread just the way I like it! Can't wait to try some and also share with all of you!

To make this bread you would need....

Ingredients:

  1. 3 cups (468 grams, 16.5 oz) all-purpose or bread flour. Feel free to make some fraction of this whole wheat flour. I would start with a small amount (say, 1/2 a cup) and work your way up as you experiment.
  2. 1.5 cups of water (354 grams, 12.5 oz).
  3. 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast (instant yeast is also called Rapid Rise. The primary difference between instant yeast and the traditional yeast is that the granules are smaller and you don't need to proof it. Just add it to the flour. I always use instant. )
  4. 1.5-2.5 teaspoons salt, according to taste.
  5. Spray oil like Pam.
